About Me
Hi! My name is Amoreena. I am both a nurse and a therapist with a passion for the field of Mental Health & Addictions that goes back a long way. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, but I have deep Maritime roots and I now make my home in Riverview, New Brunswick. I graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2016. In 2023 I began taking the Certified Nurse Psychotherapist program.

As a Registered Nurse I have experience in surgical nursing, pandemic nursing, and correctional nursing, where I was involved with starting a harm reduction based Opioid Agonist Therapy program. I also have experience working for a Primary Health Care clinic providing services to people experiencing homelessness, including doing mobile outreach at local homeless shelters. In addition to working on finishing my CNP program, I currently work at an Emergency Room Mental Health & Addictions department. I have chosen to take my career in the direction I have because my core values as an RN and CNP-Q are that every single person deserves access to equitable and non-judgmental healthcare (both physically and mentally), and I know that many are denied this dignity.

I identify as an Intersectional Feminist and am a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I live with my wife and our "zoo" of 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 3 small pets. I love all types of animals! I enjoy trying new vegetarian recipes and baking, especially muffins. I also enjoy sending and receiving snail mail letters, reading chick-lit (and proudly calling it that!), and visiting museums. My favourite (legendary) animal is a unicorn, my favourite foods are nachos and French toast, my favourite book is Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes, and my longest Wordle streak is 62 days. I am a Millennial, a Leo, an ENFJ, and an Enneagram 2w3.
