Glimmers
Glimmers are the opposite of triggers!

Glimmers are small moments of joy or comfort that make us feel safe, calm our nervous system, reduce our stress levels, and help us feel grounded and present. A glimmer can be literally anything! It can internal or external, and it can be something random or something intentional. Glimmers will be different for everyone, but we can all find them anywhere, even on our darkest days.
Glimmers are tiny, but the more we notice them, the more impact they have on shifting our perception and experience of the world. As you learn to regularly pay attention to glimmers in your daily life, your overwhelmed nervous system will begin to regulate itself better, moving you out of the constant fight-or-flight (or freeze or fawn) response. Identifying glimmers can even help your mental health improve!
While glimmers certainly won't fix everything you're struggling with, I believe that it is important to learn to identify these positive micro moments, and to not focus only on triggers that make us feel less safe and grounded.

I love the concept of glimmers so much that it led to me choosing the name Glimmer Mental Health for my therapy practice. I truly believe that there is value in keeping ourselves open to spotting and acknowledging these little moments that spark joy or peace. That is the kind of therapist I want to be for you, someone that can offer you a glimmer of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
