My Approach

My goal is always to meet my clients where they are at and to help them improve their mental health and quality of life on their terms. I want to help clients build resiliency and learn mental health promoting behaviours, while offering support through a trauma-informed lens.

My therapeutic style  is compassionate, supportive, and empathetic. I want you to feel that our sessions are a safe space, where you can talk about absolutely anything without any fear of judgment. I like to collaborate with my clients. Because while I might be an expert on a certain topic because of my schooling and experience, I recognize that you are also an expert! You are the expert on yourself, your experiences, and what it feels like to live inside your head every day. We both have lot to bring to the table, and so with some trust and some teamwork, we can work together to find ways to manage whatever you are struggling with.

As a Certified Nurse Psychotherapist, (CNP-Q) my approach integrates my background knowledge in Registered Nursing with my training and experience in various evidence based therapeutic modalities. I have formal training through my CNP program in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I also integrate elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness. I draw from these different types of therapy in order to create an individualized and client-centered treatment plan. By combining therapeutic approaches, and collaborating with my clients, we can together find a way to meet your needs and help you achieve your goals and make sustainable changes, so that you can experience continued growth even after you finish therapy.
